Details: 1967 was the first year of the introduction to Parliament and launching of the Krugerrands, originally marketed as "The Trojan" - by the then minister of finances Dr. N Diedericks - the coin was launched at the S A Mint on the 3rd of July of that year, struck on the OOM PAUL MINT at the actual launching, of what has become an internationally successful currency. Framed with these coins, are the certificates as well as a photograph of the S A Mint as it stands today, and a photograph of the then Finance Minister striking a Krugerrand coin on the OOM PAUL MINT at the launch. The modern Krugerrand has undergone more sophisticated polishing techniques on the producton dies, which give the frosted effect of a proof coin, moving with the modern numismatic trends - the 1999 Krugerrand is proof of the changing technologies in the minting processess over time.
