The BIG FIVE have been depicted over the years 1994 to 1998. South Africa has an abundance of protected wildlife and nature reserves. In the Natura series, other wildlife is being depicted as well. These designs were done by various artists, the obverse of the Lion coins was designed by Susan Erasmus, and the reverse by Johan Steyn. The Rhino and Elephant obverse designed by Arthur Sutherland and reverse by Brian Hartland.The Buffalo obverse and reverse by Arthur Sutherland and lastly the Leopard obverse designed by Arthur Sutherland and the reverse by Johan Steyn.
