THE 2008 IS AN EXTREMELY RARE SET and is a wonderful opportunity for collectors to own these sets in combination.  You will notice that the 2008 ELEPHANT EXCLUSIVE SET certificate has 400 printed as the edition number, but is actually catalogued at 205 of these sets only, in Hern's Catalogue. This is a great advantage to own this set in collectors terms. The 2009 EXCLUSIVE WHITE RHINO is also certificated at 400, as is the 2010 EXCLUSIVE BLACK RHINO. The final mintages of these sets are not established at this point in time, but may finally be catalogued at below the stated certificated number of 400.

2008  - The Elephant

The four Natura coins share a common obverse design which depicts the portrait of a matriach.  It is interesting to note that family groups are lead by a mature cow and not by a bull elephant.  Different characteristics of elephant behaviour are featured on each of the reverses of the four coins. creating a visual link between the coins is the silhouette of a family group portrayed on both sides of each coin. 

2009  - The White Rhino - Endangered

The new theme called "Safari Through South Africa" began in 2009 and featured the White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) to celebrate the successful "Save the Rhino" project which saved these highly endangered species from certain extinction. The 2009 Natura Set contains four common scenes in the live of rhinos, on the reverse of the coins.

2010  - The Black Rhino - Critically Endangered

Continuing the theme"Safari Through South Africa", the critically endangered Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) is featured on the 2010 Natura series and together with the 2009 series, these coins highlight the severe threat rhinos now face from poachers who use highly sophisticated equipmentand poaching methods. Depicted on each coin is the IUCN Red List "1970 - 70,000; 2010 - 4,240.  These statistics embedded in gold, affirm that the Black Rhino is in critical danger of extinction!!!!!!!!!!!!!
