Mintage:Estimated 200 Type Two Gold Adelaide Pounds known.

 (When compared to other numismatic rarities it becomes apparent that the Type Two Gold Adelaide Pound does not appear as often as the 1930 pennies and 1923 half pennies.)

The Australian Pound becomes legal tender at the Cape 

   The Australian Pound and Half Pound was introduced into usage in the Cape and Natal as part of the monetary system, at that time, on the 25th January 1867, in a proclamation that appeared in the Cape Government Gazzette. Australia minted these coins in the period between 1855 and 1870. The design of these coins were identical to the British coins of the time and were approved by the Imperial Government.

The Adelaide type 2 (were used  at the time of the English occupation of the Cape Colony)
