The 2003 Cullinan Centenary Set is a RARE limited-edition South African proof coin collection issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Premier Mine (1903–2003) and the town of Cullinan. The two-piece set includes a 1 oz gold Krugerrand featuring a special Cullinan diamond privy mark, alongside a Sterling Silver medallion set with a diamond. Both pieces are notable for having been minted underground at the famous Premier Mine, adding to the set’s historical significance and collectibility.
Paul Kruger was the president of the
South African Republic (Transvaal) who championed the Boer cause against the British and helped establish the precursor to Kruger National Park. He is known as "Oom Paul" (Uncle Paul), lost fingers to a hunting accident with a rifle that exploded, and was a skilled frontiersman who grew up during the Great Trek.
