Paul Kruger was a leader of the Boer (Dutch settlers) resistance against British imperialism in South Africa, particularly during the Second Anglo-Boer War. His story is unusual because he defied the powerful British Empire for a considerable time, ultimately leading the Boers to several victories before being defeated. He is also known for his vision for the Kruger National Park, which was named after him.
