Info:
In 1965 , the Mint continued the tradition of offering the so-called "long" proof sets for sale. These sets were similar to the normal short proof sets, but also contained the R1 and R2 gold coins and were housed in very distinct red leatherette cases. Many catalogue writers warn that huge numbers of the gold coins were stripped over the years and complete sets in their original red cases are now becoming scarce. It will in fact be quite difficult for prospective buyers to source the full series of 19 sets from 1965 to 1983.
